UNTERMYER ATTACKS FORD.In Plea for Zionism, He Says Manufacturer Preaches Bigotry.About 3,000 heard Samuel Untermyer make a plea for Zionism last night at a joint meeting of the Bronx boards of the Independent Order of Brith Abraham in Hunts Point Palace, 163d Street and Southern Boulevard. This meeting marked the beginning of a nation-wide membership campaign. Referring to conditions in America, Mr. Untermyer said: "The idea of persecution is abroad in the land, and some think it is growing. It is rampant, but I do not believe it is growing, despite such mysteries as Henry Ford, who preaches the gospel of bigotry. I believe we are getting ahead." Among others who spoke at the meeting were" Aaron J. Levy, Grand Master of the order; Judge Gustave Hartman, Past Grand Master; Maurice E. Biederman, and County Judge Louis D. Gibbs. |
